In Term 1 the College held an Ash Wednesday liturgy for staff and students.
Ash Wednesday is a time when, as a sign of penitence for wrongdoings, believers are marked on the forehead with the sign of the cross, from blessed ashes. This symbolic occasion reminds people of their mortality and sorrow for sins, as well as the will for change and the hope of forgiveness.
It marks the beginning of Lent for many Christian churches. It is traditionally a time of fasting and prayer. We commit to these actions so that we can be one with others, empty ourselves of things that are not necessary and make room for God.
