On the 17th March we launched one of our exciting new learning ventures for 2017, our Health Hub. St Francis College has partnered with BCE (Brisbane Catholic Education), DET (Department of Education and Training, QLD) and TAFE QLD to provide certificate courses in Cert II in Health Support Services and Cert III in Health Services Assistance for students in Years 10, 11 and 12. These TAFE Courses are provided onsite at St Francis College, in our very own Health Hub, by a TAFE Teacher, with state of the art facilities. We have also welcomed students from Emmaus College and Trinity College who will study with our students in our Health Hub.
Our students have begun the theory part of their course and have now started with the practical part of the course in our amazing facility that mirrors a real hospital ward.
At the launch we welcomed Ms Pam Betts, Executive Director Brisbane Catholic Education, the Honourable Mr Cameron Dick, Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Dr Jim Chalmers, Federal Member for Rankin and Shadow Minister for Finance and Mr Linus Power, Member for Logan, as well as officials from TAFE, DET and Griffith University. Along with our own staff, parents and students. This fantastic event showcased St Francis Colleges forward thinking attitude towards education. It was a great success, and we know from the feedback we have received that all those who participated enjoyed it as much as we did.
We are immensely proud of this facility, as it will enhance the learning pathways for our students vocationally, educationally and practically!
