It was an extremely rainy day on Friday
1st May, but that didn’t stop the Year 11 and 12’s going on their
excursion to
Parliament House. Ronan, Courtney, Pedro and I Josh) were chosen to be members
of Parliament along with other schools, such as Marsden and Mt Alvernia. We
were all on the Government side, which is Labour, and I had the opportunity to
be the Deputy Premier of Queensland and sit in the actual seat that the real
Deputy Premier of QLD, Jackie Tran, sits. All of us prepared 1-minute speeches about
issues in Queensland, for example ‘over supply of teachers’. It did feel like
we were actual politicians when the opposition would have an interjection, and
when the Government supported your idea by yelling out “Hear Hear”. Overall, we
all had an exceptionally fun time and we all like to Thank Ms Rolfe for giving
us this great opportunity.
